On behalf of His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Prime
Minister, H.E. Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, the Minister of Oil,
inaugurated the 11th edition of the International Conference and Exhibition on
Chemistry in Industry on Tuesday morning, 29 October 2019, at the Gulf Hotel,
hosted by the Kingdom of Bahrain under the theme of ‘Breakthrough Solutions
Through Innovative Materials’. This important event is organized by the
American Chemical Society, represented by the Saudi branch of International
Chemistry, in coordination with the National Oil and Gas Authority (NOGA) and
supported by Saudi Aramco and a number of local and international companies.
H.E. Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Minister of Oil, expressed his
deep thanks and appreciation to H.R.H. the Prime Minister, for patronaging this
international event, which is one of the most important conferences and
exhibitions in the oil and chemical industry, and for the continuous support by
the government. As this conference has a high-level platform for sharing
knowledge, opinions and experiences among specialists, engineers, technicians
and VIPs from national, regional and international oil companies.
H.E. pointed out that this conference is one of the conferences where a number
of large international companies specialized in the industry are sharing the
latest experiences and are providing the best management and technical
practices and reviewing the best innovative solutions to promote the
development and prosperity in this industry.
H.E. also commended the keenness of the Government of the Kingdom of Bahrain to
provide the utmost support to this type of specialized events that benefit the
economic, knowledge and development system and consecrate the principle of
exchange of information, experiences and expertise and participate in
capacity-building and skills. In addition to refining the skills and expertise
of the human element, which is a fundamental pillar of the development
process.
H.E. the Minister said that the chemical industry at present is considered one
of the many industries with a wide range that serve mankind in various fields.
H.E. also stated that we need to work hard to study these challenges and move
forward to overcome these challenges through the optimal use of energy and
benefit from the expertise and modern technology and the great potential of
these technologies to address current and future challenges.
H.E. the Minister pointed out that innovation and creativity to the latest
technologies and the exchange of information and expertise and training of human
cadres, are capable of making a promising industrial future, which is one of
the most important tools that we must seriously think to reach the highest
standards of progress, development and prosperity in this vital industry. H.E.
stated that the performance of the Bahraini oil companies affiliated to the
National Oil and Gas Authority (NOGA) are using the best practices and advanced
technologies to improve its work in various fields, using environmentally
friendly technologies such as advanced trends in getting carbon and enhance oil
recovery in the field of petrochemicals and refining. H.E. highly appreciated
the Bahraini's and especially the youths, that contributed in achieving many
national achievements in this field.
At the end of his speech, H.E. the Minister of Oil expressed his great thanks
and appreciation to the leadership for the support to the oil and gas sector in
the Kingdom of Bahrain, which has achieved positive results in ensuring the
sustainability of economic growth in the Kingdom. Also H.E. thanked Fahad
Al-Muhaish, President of the conference, for his excellent efforts in preparing
and organizing this great event, as well as for the keynote speakers,
chairpersons, participating delegations and exhibitors, wishing them every
success.
The conference included five main themes that were attended by a number of
international speakers from around the world: the role of innovative materials
and their applications in future industries, the circular economy and achieving
the concept of sustainability, the role of artificial intelligence and
technology in the discovery of materials, and the creation of catalysts in the
chemical industry and refining innovative solutions to the challenges of oil
exploration and extraction.
H.E. the Minister of Oil and a number of senior officials, inaugurated the
accompanying exhibition, where H.E. was briefed on the products and services
that represent the latest technologies in the oil, gas and petrochemicals
industry. The 956-square-meter exhibition had attracted more than 30 national
and international oil and gas and refining companies, including Saudi Aramco,
German Metals, SABIC, SASREF Refinery, Bahrain Petroleum Company (BAPCO), GCI
Group, Halliburton company and other companies specialized in this vital field.
