Delivering Value Through Automation workshop

H.E. Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Minister of Oil, inaugurated a workshop entitled, 'Delivering Value Through Automation', with the participation of a number of senior officials of local, regional and international oil companies. The event was organized by the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) in cooperation with the National Oil and Gas Authority (NOGA) and with the support of Saudi Aramco and a number of local and international companies, with the aim of enhancing knowledge and exchange of experiences and working to find appropriate solutions for the use of automated operation of oil and gas well drilling.

At the beginning of his opening speech, H.E. the Minister of Oil praised the efforts of the SPE organization in organizing a number of specialized events in the oil and gas sector. H.E. highly praised the selection of the important topics and the presentation of related topics in line with global challenges and developments.

H.E. the Minister of Oil stressed that Tatweer Petroleum company in cooperation with a number of international companies, are in the process of drilling a number of experimental wells with the aim of studying and analyzing information to reach the best techniques to extract commercial quantities of shale oil, which emphasizes the importance of the latest developments in modern technologies and finding the best practices to be used in the drilling and exploration of the recently discovered field in the Gulf of Bahrain.

H.E. said that the world has turned towards the industrial revolution and digital transformation in many industries that have contributed to the development and growth at an accelerated pace, including space, transportation, autonomous driving vehicles and other industries, which made the use of these modern technologies possible in some technical areas within the oil and gas sector.

At the end of his speech, H.E. the Minister of Oil thanked the organizing committee for its good organization and arrangement, as well as the supporters, speakers and participants from different countries of the world, wishing them success and a beneficial workshop.
