Order No. (62) for the year 2006 Definition of Vital Installations in Which Strikes Are Banned

H.H. the Prime Minister issued Decree No.(62) on 20th November 2006.

The Prime Minister;

In pursuance of the Trade Union Law, promulgated by Decree-Law No. (33) for the year 2002, as

amended by Law No. (49) for the year 2006, particularly Article (21) thereof;

In accordance with a recommendation submitted by the Minister of Labour;

Has ordered as follows:


Article 1

Strikes or a call therefor in vital installations in which a strike will have an impact on national security or disruption of the day-to-day services of citizens are hereby banned. Such installations include:

Security. Civil Defence. Airports. Seaports. Hospitals, medical centres and pharmacies. All passenger and cargo conveyance facilities. Telecommunications. Electricity. Water supply. Bakeries. Educational establishments and Oil & gas sector installations.


Article 2

The Ministers, each within his/her own jurisdiction, shall implement this Edict, which shall come into effect on the day immediately following the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.​​
